This concert, featuring Melbourne’s Cedar Collective, is the fourth in the ‘String Quartet #1 Project’ which aims to showcase first string quartets from Australian composers. This instalment in the series will explore the multitudinous connotations in the music of Tasmanian convict composer Alexander Laing (1792-1868), with performances of Laing’s fiddle tunes interlaced between each contemporary string quartet.
Presented in collaboration with the Salamanca Arts Centre.
This project was made possible by the Australian Government Regional Arts Fund, which supports the arts in regional and remote Australia.
